The makers of the orignal SOCOM, a game much-loved by us, have a new project coming up. While some information was released before they recently put out the first game footage. H-Hour: World’s Elite is this new game and we’re going to go over what we know so far.
The New SOCOM Style Game
While certainly the whole team isn’t there, the creative director David Sears is on the project. The pre-alpha looks well, quite a lot like the older games. The graphics are a bit nicer but it appears to follow the same formula. We imagine this one will deal with encounters all over the world as some games have.
The selling point of the new game is supposed to be the Special Operations veterans who are giving feedback and animations. So far the concept art has been good but the pre-alpha needs some polish. It is a pre-alpha after all.
The Ongoing Development
Right now the small studio is working with other studios such as YETi CGI. So far that company has mostly dealt with mobile games in the past such as… Jackpot Bingo? Fierce… Fashion Agents? Well in indie games sometimes you have to make a few strange bedfellows. We hope that they manage to get some nice models out later on. They probably need to save some money on the development as it was originally funded by a Kickstarter.
More Information on the SOCOM Successor
If you want to follow the game as it develops then check out the SOF Studios site. Right now it could really go either way as far as being good or terrible. We hope it errs on the side of good. It will be coming out first on PS4 then later a PC edition will come out. We hope that the translation is good but it should be since the development is all in-house.
