Nerd News will become a segment on the site, either weekly or bi-weekly, covering various news around the nerd world. Instead of a bullet list, it will be a numbered list based on importance. With that, welcome to the first edition!
There has been quite a lot of Nerd News this week:
1.DC comics’ Flashpoint has played host to some of the worst comics ever, including a Batman book where Bruce Wayne’s Dad and Mom are Batman and the Joker respectively. DC should be ashamed of their mediocre cash grab.
2.Battlefield 3 and Dota 2 are both being tested right now. BF3 has had general good reception, and Dota 2 will be voiced in part by TF2 cast members.
3.Fear Itself, while actually being better written than most Marvel events, has the silly plot twist that everyone has Thor’s hammer. Even Iron Man and Wolverine will be getting their own. Fans are hoping to soon see everyone is Spider Man or maybe even everyone is Squirrel Girl.
4.The new Terraria patch is coming up, which promises a total game shift.
5.Notch is adding Shades, extremely creepy Minecraft enemies similar to weeping angels form Dr. Who. Except they’re pitch black.
6.League of Legends has had serious bouts of downtime with U.S. servers, but that hasn’t seemed to bother Riot very much.
7.EVO had some amazing SF4 play and some very lackluster MvC3 play. Sadly Mike Z and Vangief both lost, so all hope is lost for pro players you can cheer for.
8.Mawaru Penguindrum is both confusing and awesome, while being extremely popular right now.
9.As of this moment, the Lords of the Uberdark Kickstarter is going to fail. We will have to see if this turns around. So far the creator has ignored all attempts to contact him by Nerd-Age. He has however decided to go on with the project regardless, as announced in a recent nerd news post.
