Perusing through the various press releases today, I saw something that bothered me. A game called MOE Can Change! Myroid 4 Life. There comes a point where mobile games have become too ridiculous and this is it.

The game is a simple dress-up game where you clothe a girl and pick her personality. Choose the Tsundere or one of dozens of other boring cliches. Then pretend that you are in a relationship with the character. Everyone is doing it.
Why I Hate MOE Can Change! Myroid 4 Life
The game has over 1 million players in Japan. While I’m not sure whether that is accurate, that means that a million players enjoy a casual game where you dress a girl up. With the glut of terrible Moe anime and games the bar has been lowered so far that it may not ever be raised again. Moe is a plague on anime and gaming and this is perhaps the best example of how far it has spread.
Why Would Anyone Want MOE Can Change! Myroid 4 Life
If inexplicably you somehow want this game it’s on Google Play. But please, please don’t get this game. What is most puzzling is that games like this are popular yet Game Center CX is still popular. So do people want games like this or ones that were actually made by people with a passion for gaming?
Is Moe inherently a bad thing for both gaming and anime? In a word, yes. There are tiny, incredibly small pockets of gaming and anime that use the style well. Two to three exceptions in each genre just proves that the rules is true. When the vast majority of some style ruins everything it touches then that fits the criteria. Please, just say no to Moe. Someone has to.
