Metal Gear Solid V is making the already strange universe even stranger. You’re playing as Big Boss this time around. You know, the guy many of us killed in the old Nintendo games but he’s fine now. They probably decided to go with this after how well received Peace Walker was. It leave many of us hanging about the cryptic message Old Snake left after the credits of four.
The Big Changes to the Metal Gear Solid Franchise
The first big change is that this game is coming in two parts, Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain. These also happen to be the strangest names for the games so far. It’s going to be run on the FOX Engine, one developed by Kojima Productions made just for this series. They will also be making it into a sandbox game. This is a massive change to a fun series that was normally on rails.
They’re also promising the ability to stealth through everything. We hope this is true as the Deus Ex developers promised it and didn’t make good until quite a long time after.
The Story Confusion of Metal Gear Solid V
Ground Zeroes is going to be yet another prequel and Kojima has admitted there may be some plot holes. While he has weaved a complex story that is at times beautiful his love over intertwining characters and subplots has made it pretty hard to follow. It looks like this edition will be no different.
A New Team for Part of Metal Gear Solid V
From what little we’ve seen The Phantom Pain will be by Moby Dick Studios. Big Boss is rumored to have a prosthetic hook hand in this one which further complicates the story. From the trailer above and what Kojima always does this game is going to get weird.
This is all the information we have so far other than it’s going to be on the next generation systems. Big surprise there. Be sure to watch Kojima Productions to find out more.
