Maoyuu Maou Yuusha episode 3 takes the plan of having the farmers plant potatoes to the next level. The Demon King goes with the Hero to a convent to get their help with spreading teachings about potatoes, so the people will know about them with the two of them having to go to every village. The prioress turns out to be the Knight from the Hero’s party. She is very upset with him about leaving them all. After hearing about why he left them she tells him what the rest of the party did after he left. The Demon King has another plan besides the potatoes that involves sending a new type of compass to the Merchant’s Guild.
Maoyuu Maou Yuusha has finally revealed what happened to the party with the hero. There have been hints in the opening and glimpses, but now there is no question. What the government did about the Hero’s party makes a lot of sense. They tried to pay them off and at least keep them from proceeding into the demon’s realm. Since they do not actually want the war to end sending a competent party in to try to end it could ruin everything. Getting the people to disband and making them interested in other things would keep the war going much longer. Hero wanting to go after Magician is a little weird since he never worried about his party before. For all he knew they could have all tried to follow him and ended up dead. So why is he so worried about her going after him now?
The Merchant’s Guild is supposed to be the greedy group that is helping to keep the war going in Maoyuu Maou Yuusha. Yet despite this the Demon King sends them the new compass that will be very useful to them, so useful that they want to kill her to make sure no one else has one. It will be interesting to see why the Demon King decided to do this. It could be that she wants them to be found out when they try to kill her and get them discredited once people see the lengths they will go to for money. The Demon King could also be helping them to do better at their jobs, so they will remain rich after the war is over and not try to keep it going. There are probably more possibilities than that not easily seen now.
Several times episode 3 of Maoyuu Maou Yuusha they refer to the Demon King’s breast as useless flesh. Also while the Demon King is talking with the Head Maid about not spending time advancing her relationship with the Hero they talk about her amount of useless flesh going up. The way they put it makes me wonder if it goes up from not doing inappropriate things with a man. If so with Hero going on a journey for a long time she is going to be tripping on her useless flesh by the time he gets back. It also gives a unique reason for why her useless flesh is so bountiful.
