So Many Me is getting quite popular and has some big connections within the larger industry. So it caught our notice and might also be interesting for you.
The Gameplay of So Many Me
Cloning mechanics have been very popular in platformers for years. This game is attempting to mash up the best parts of the Lost Vikings with cloning. The versions of you can gain different powers and you need to use them together to get through each area of puzzles. This one features Filo who is the protagonist multiple times. You are on a quest to rescue the world and sometimes even yourself.
This game comes from Extend Studio, makers of A.R.E.S. so it should give you an idea of what to expect from the platforming. While it isn’t always true previous games are usually a good indicator for future ones.
Supporting the So Many Me Kickstarter
We can’t have an article without a section like this. The pledges in this Kickstarter give you the normal things like copies of the game and plushies as you might expect. The higher tiers are a bit pricey compared to some we’ve seen, for better or worse. However it’s going to be on PC/Mac/Linux and even consoles. We think it has a good basis for puzzle mechanics and will probably end up being a very good game.
Costumes and Commentary
One reason why we noticed this one is that it has costume packs from many other indie games. These include:
- Dead Samurai Dishwasher
- Weapon of Choice
- Dust: An Elysian Tail
- Lumi
- A.R.E.S. (sort of, since they made that game)
- Blocks that Matter
The developers at each level of money (we don’t want to say success) put each other (and themselves) in games. This happens sometimes on the lower end as well.
These connections shape the industry in a very real way from the games themselves to interactions with the media. It’s just an interesting side note we wanted to leave you with after discussing So Many Me. What does it say about the industry? You decide.
