In the Lords of Uberdark alpha you can build and dig. And build and dig.
Lords of Uberdark is finally in production after the success of its Kickstarter. Andrew Bishop met his Kickstarter goal by having Notch tweet his game multiple times. It almost failed due to the fact that Andrew Bishop won’t give an interview to pretty much anyone, including us. We have no idea whether he is just so incredibly busy that he can’t move, or if he just doesn’t care for the media.
The alpha is absolutely unbelievably basic so far, we are really surprised he even bothered to release this. All you can do right now is mine and dig, you can go in water but it acts as land. None of the water flows or even really moves around.
On the upside, the graphical engine does have an excellent style that looks great. If there are significant improvements in future versions this game could really look better than Minecraft. To be fair this is an extremely early build and he has promised a large number of additions on his Kickstarter.
Some of these additions include the beloved “Dorfs”, annoying “Goblins and even a ship/cannon system. Could we someday see ship to ship pirate combat on the high seas of this game? We can only hope, because that would likely become a main draw of the game if it were instituted.
As you might expect multiplayer is planned and will be instituted in later versions of the game. While there haven’t been very many specifics it’s pretty safe to assume it will be similar to Minecraft’s system.
Future updates are set to include RPG style stat systems, classes and a plethora of NPC characters. He has released a bit of artwork as well in some of his news updates. That’s about it, although you can also build upwards, downwards and to each side. Stay tuned for more exciting updates!

Looks like a combo of Minecraft and From Dust.
