Kakumeiki Valvrave episode 5 – The Easy Button

In Kakumeiki Valvrave episode 5, the students have gone a bit crazy with their new found freedom. They have started to do many of the things that they were denied before and have only a few projects they are working on. When a crisis with the power and heat for the module happens the group falls apart under the pressure. They start to blame Shoko for the whole mess, when the whole group decided to go through with it. After the crisis is over the group comes back together to make a music video so that their parents know that they are ok. The final minutes show that there are even more mechs like the Valvrave. Haruto wants to keep it a secret, but L-elf already knows.

All the difficulties in this episode of  Kakumeiki Valvrave were resolved way too easily. A problem with the systems that is so big that all the electricity and heating goes off can be fixed with just the push of a button. No need for electricians or messing with the wires at all. Not only that, but the button glows to help people find it. Big fight between the girls with slapping can be solved by lifting a girl’s skirt. That should have caused a whole different set of problems, but not in this universe.

They take a longer look into the political situation of Kakumeiki Valvrave in this episode. ARUS are being crippled in their attempt to take things from the students because their people sympathize with the children. They are all politician and have to think about the upcoming elections. Political careers are more important than anything after all. Dorissia is not having the same problem, their leader just gives a speech about how the state gives them life and it can not continue without having all the power.

Kakumeiki Valvrave episode 5 understatement

I think something bigger than things just do not work happened here.

The end musical number under the circumstances did not make a ton of sense, but watching the whole thing it makes even less sense. There are scenes where the students are obviously mourning someone or holding up a picture of someone who died while they are singing about how they are doing fine. Also this is going out to their parents. It would be really messed up if someone’s family found out their child was dead because a student was holding a picture up in memory of them. A whole group of students are posing on the football field with a picture of a mostly naked girl they made. Really want to show that to the parents. The whole musical number does not go with the rest of the episode or advance the plot. What were they thinking with that?
