Kakumeiki Valvrave episode 10 is about voting for a prime minister for the new colony and the new effects Valvrave is having on Haruto.
First there is the scene at the end of Kakumeiki Valvrave episode 10 where Haruto under the influence of Valvrave forces himself on Saki. There has been a lot of talk about this scene already and it is very controversial. I do not think it is appropriate and does not go with the direction the show has been going so far. Hopefully this does not mean that the show will be dark from now on. Also I am waiting to see how they handle this whole situation in the next episode. Hopefully there is a good reason for it besides getting Saki to finally realize the full extent of the curse that Haruto is under. The next episode will be very important to whether a large amount of the fanbase will stay or leave.
Where do we go from here?
After Haruto let his emotions get the better of him at the beginning of Kakumeiki Valvrave he has tried to get everyone else to think before getting into a mech. No one has listened so far. Finally Saki gets it though. At least for Haruto being the pilot of a Valvrave is a curse. He loses control of his body and does things that he would never do. His whole life is different and if he really thought about it, he would try to make sure he was always with someone who knew how to knock him out of his frenzy. Eventually the others may find ways that they are different now and regret their decisions as well.
When the elections for Prime Minister are going on Shoko acts like a true politician because she give the people voting for her a pack of lies. At first it is not that bad because she just appeals to them as the school age kids that they all are by bringing up that they should have the school festival they all missed out on. Compared to the speeches about making sure everyone has the necessities that others were talking about it was refreshing and something they would rather think about. The students do not want to have to worry about getting enough food or having electricity. They thought that adults would still be handling that for a while more. Shoko did not just stop with the festival though, but said they should just be students. That they should get greedy and do what they want. That is good, but things can not go back to the way they were before. They have their own module to take care of now and there are responsibilities. What Shoko is trying to offer them is a simpler life of being students again when they were all innocent and protected. There innocence is gone though and a festival will not bring it back. When they start practicing their play or finishing the movie they will find that one of the people that started it is dead. Those innocent simple days are gone and so is their childhood. It is time to worry about the necessities and while you can have your festival it should not be the first consideration. Shoko offered them the hope of something that they can not have, so she was the best politician and won because of it.
