The Rundown of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Episode 5
In Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Episode 5 the group travels to a sleepy hamlet. Dio shows off his abilities to hypnotize people, raise the dead and also defeat multiple heroes at once. Not much happens in the story. There is some decent fighting with the black knights. The show ends on a cliffhanger as Jojo reveals the new power of the “Turquoise Blue Overdrive.”
Jojo’s Really Bizarre Adventure
This episode has some of the weirdest moments in the series overall. Zeppelli walks on water with a weird pose. Speedwagon has a chest that is burning red. Jojo is being sucked dry. If you want to see something really odd then just watch this episode.
One of “those” episodes
While it was still enjoyable, this episode wasn’t as strong as some previous ones. That is because it is in the archetype of episodes where we just see what a tough guy the boss is. You cannot really fault them for this but it does make the episode less exciting.
The Over-the-top art of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Episode 5
This particular episode had a lot of crazy effects. They used quite a bit of text sound effects and much more. Overall they perhaps put the most crazy flash thus far in this episode.
One thing Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure series 1 does better than others
In this episode we see the backstory on some minor characters. Phantom Blood goes in-depth on even minor characters. The author, Araki, usually does a good job on some characters. The animators of this series did a great job on this part as well. However I would liked to have seen this applied to the series as a whole. When we get to series 3 I will go over how the ball was kind of dropped in this area later on.
The Final Verdict
Overall the episode was good. However in comparison to the others it looks bad. This was probably the weakest one thus far. Is it still worth watching? Definitely. But you should not expect too much.
