Well, look who thinks he’s Steely Dan in Stardust Crusaders. Well, Steely Dan does.
The Rundown for Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Episode 42
Steely Dan shows up early to finish off Enyaba. She meets an unfortunate fate due to Dio’s flesh bud.
Animators actually did some nice work on her eyes here.
Steely Dan is their newest opponent and informs the group that they can’t attack him due to his weak power.
Close enough to his name, Steely Dan.
Dan’s stand allows him to transfer damage to someone else at four times the normal amount. So when Jotaro smashes him Joseph takes even more damage because Dan has already implanted his stand within him.
Jumping the stand, er. Gun.
Jotaro must keep Steely Dan safe so that his grandfather does not die. This leads to a sequence where he gets messed with a lot and must act as a bridge.
Jotaro wants to be a better man but he’s only a bridge.
Meanwhile Joseph, Polnareff and Kakyoin have a brilliant flash of inspiration. They realized that if they use Hermit Purple they can see inside Joseph’s body. Somehow they also realize that Kakyoin and Polnareff can shrink their stands and fight inside him.
Somehow everyone got really smart at this point in the episode.
Polnareff and Kakyoin begin their journey to the center of Joseph’s brain. The CGI gets a little odd in this section but honestly I’m not sure how they would have done it well. If you have any ideas let us know.
The art is a little bizarre here.
Thoughts on Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Episode 42
What is interesting to note is that we haven’t gotten to the parts I consider to be the best in this chapter. Despite this it’s still very good and the animation has stayed at a high level with the exception of an episode here or there.
