Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Episode 26 Review

In Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Episode 26 of the Battle Tendency arc Joseph has to pull off one of the best “Deus Ex Machina” moments ever to win.

The Rundown of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Episode 26

Cars begins sinking into the lava near the start of the episode. It looks like it is all over for him as his shell is not enough to save him. Unfortunately for Joseph he has a secondary shell with air bubbles included. This allows him to survive the incredible heat and even cut off Joseph’s arm.

Joseph is thoroughly defeated as Cars removes his shell and hits Joseph with an overdrive of his own. Cars now not only can shape-shift into any form but also has an incredibly powerful Hamon. Stroheim and Joseph cower in fear as Cars closes in for the kill. Without even thinking about it Joseph puts the Super Red Stone in the way of the blow. This amplifies the energy to a huge degree.

This amplification causes the volcano to become supercharged. Both combatants are launched towards space. However Cars can still fly and it looks like everything is over. Fortunately for Joseph he is the luckiest man to ever live in the Jojo world. His hand literally gets propelled up and hits cars. It half stabs and half throttles him due to the force and sends him out of control. In an even luckier turn Cars is hit by volcanic rock that combines with his wing drift to launch him into space. Cars reaches space but is turned into an immobile form by the sheer cold. Unable to even die, Cars floats through the void.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Episode 26 Cars Creates the Stone masks

Another big part of this episode is watching Cars originally create and put on the stone mask. He then killed his entire race because they despised his power and wanted him dead. This was one of the best parts of the manga and was done well here. I could have stood for that part going on a bit longer since it was so good but it was fine.

In the end Joseph shows that he is superhuman by surviving the fall from the atmosphere without being severely harmed. He marries Suzie Q and shows up to his own funeral with a new hand. They then go over what happened to the characters. Finally the episode ends on a shot of Jotaro from series three. Hopefully we will get to see that animated as well.

Thoughts on the Wrap-up of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Episode 26

For the most part the episode lived up to the manga. The art was dramatic along with the music. All of it looked great. The only part that wasn’t quite as good was the part with Cars and his back story. It felt like it had more impact in the manga. He seemed more interesting. However I still have to say that Wham was a better fight than Cars in both parts. Also a “Deus Ex Machina” is always kind of cheap no matter how well it is done. However I think Araki just wanted to surprise people with it this time. He certainly did in my opinion.
