Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita episode 9 is about the rise and fall of a new fairy nation in around 9 days.
A lot of this episode of Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita comes down to moderation. The faeries do not seem to have any idea of this concept and that is constantly a problem for them. They are driven out by the overpopulation, since they do not keep control of reproduction. They destroy the environment on the island because they all create plants that destroy the soil and water. The resources are all used up by the faeries monuments. Things would have been vastly different if in any of these situations the faeries had used moderation and done a bit less for once.
The progression of the agriculture was interesting to watch. At first it was more useful plants. Later there were more crazy bioengineered plants, but they mostly were copying things that already existed like the coffee with tea leaves and tea with coffee beans. Eventually they faeries strayed to making things like narcotics and focusing on making candy plants.
After the candy was something you could pick off a tree the faeries had less to strive for and became less productive. They lived only to make useless monuments and the downfall of the environment was not noticed until it was too late. I guess it just shows that you should not lose sight of what is important. If you only do things for your enjoyment, it can lead to bad things like the end of a nation in this case.
More aspects of fairy culture are revealed in this episode like the different beliefs of fairies shown in the beginning of the episode. Usually in Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita the fairies are all working towards a common goal and do not have differing agendas. Also when a lot of them get really upset they can cause rain until they are happy once more. That could be useful during a drought.
This episode of Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita was more enjoyable for me than the last couple of story arcs. The faeries inventiveness and commentary really made this episode shine. Also it looks like they broke the formula they were using and this will not be a two part story where everything is explained in the episode which is nice. I like not having a cliffhanger for once.
