Some new shots have been released for Jagged Alliance: Back in Action. The new edition promises the same classic gameplay with a new style.
For those unfamiliar with the series, Jagged Alliance is a cult classic. It had a variety of expansions between Jagged Alliance and Jagged Alliance 2. As for why it was so beloved? It had deep tactical gameplay that kept you thinking and visceral kills.
Jagged Alliance 2 also gave the player quite a bit of control over the story. We can only hope this new edition offers the same level as previous games.
In Jagged Alliance: Back in Action you fight to free an island state known as Arulco. A dictator has taken over the island and the former President has hired you for help.
The most exciting aspect of this new edition is the promise of a large, persistent overworld map. You’ll be planning on a new map with exciting features and events. Those familiar with this style may have played it more often in Dawn of War or Disgaea 4. Needless to say it’s a great way to do the map.
First you train your members then you go to an instance and fight the battle. Afterwards you can garner rewards depending on the territory you won.
Of course in this new era all of the dialog with have voice acting. While some people find this to be a mixed bag, most every game has it these days. The dialog will also change as major events happen on the overworld map.
Jagged Alliance: Back in Action is quite a bit away though as the release date is set for February 2012. There is also going to be a Jagged Alliance Online edition. Registration for the beta has already started, so feel free to get in if you love the series.
