Hozuki no Reitetsu
Hozuki no Reitetsu is about the secretary to King Enma named Hozuki.
The worst part of the episode is where King Enma and Hozuki are watching the show about Australia. It is not very funny or interesting. There does not seem to be any point to it at all.
Hozuki is a pretty interesting character since they have already fleshed him out pretty well. He is serious about his job, overworked, hard on others, and still has a gentle side for things like gardening. The best part of this show is learning more about Hozuki.
Hozuki no Reitetsu does not seem to have any long running story at this point. It appears to be a comedy with one sketch at the beginning and another after the break.
Overall there is not anything really bad about Hozuki No Reitetsu, but I do not find it really funny.

Mahou Sensou
Mahou Sensou starts out with Takeshi finding a passed out girl falling out of a room at school. Takeshi takes her to the school nurse and the two accidentally kiss. This causes the girl Mui to try to attack him for thinking dirty thoughts. Then a group of magicians come in and attack them. This leads to Takeshi getting magic powers and some of his friends getting them too. They all have to leave the normal world to learn to use their new powers.
The main character starts off the show making a blanket statement that he would even go to hell to get away. Of course the show quickly makes the main character wish he had not said that. Unfortunately the magic world does not look terribly impressive or really bad. It just looks post apocalyptic. I was hoping for something a bit more like hell since he specifically mentions it.
The idea that magic can be passed on to normal people so easily seems pretty silly. If that were true then why wouldn’t the magicians make more of themselves.
Read some of the manga to see what was going on a bit more clearly and it looks like they altered the story some to make the first episode. I like it better the way they have it in the manga. The anime version is a bit too much for a first episode.
Overall not very impressed with this magical offering. A lot of the plot was predictable and the surprises did not make up for it. Hopefully it gets better later, but I was too bored to try more unless I hear really good things about this show.
