Ginga Kikoutai Majestic Prince episodes 13 and 14 are mostly about the introduction of the new pilot Ange. Ange is the opposite of Team Rabbits and the perfect kind of soldier. It does have one major flaw that keeps Ange from being totally out the team’s league.
For the duration of both Ginga Kikoutai Majestic Prince episodes the team does not know Ange’s gender. While Irie and Suruga do not seem to be going after people in the normal Team Rabbits they are both interested in Ange for now. That could have gotten complicated if Irie would have decided what she thinks Ange’s gender is. The males are thinking up wacky hijinks to figure it out. The thing I don’t understand is why they suddenly care what gender a member of the group is. They have never been really concerned before. None of the group has tried to date yet and they appear to be off limits. Hopefully they figure out the gender soon so the androgyny issue will not come up forever.
Ange shows up Team Rabbits at fighting and quite a few of their specialties as well. Ange takes to everything with focus that Team Rabbits does not have. This seems to be because Ange has no real interests outside of work unlike Team Rabbits. The team seems to be taking it badly, but shouldn’t they be used to being shown up by now. They were never the best at school and have been a joke team. In Suruga’s case he was not a good student he was just interested in the specifics about guns. Why is he so shocked that Ange is more educated about the state of weaponry? The whole Ange showing up the team segment was a bit much since they were never good to begin with, so it is not very impressive.
Ginga Kikoutai Majestic Prince would not be any fun if the main team had a perfect team member, so Ange does have a flaw. Ange’s split personality is its trade off for being capable. Whenever Ange gets into battle it gets an aggressive personality and will not listen to instruction. Ange goes out of control and while it is very good at fighting still it is not as good as Izuru can be. Jiato saw this and will not accept Ange as his rival. If Ange could keep its focus in battle maybe things would be different, but instead it is a loose cannon.
Also less important than Ange’s gender is the fact that Izuru was able to level up his mech. Why did this have less time dedicated to it than figuring out if Ange is a boy or a girl?
