Ginga Kikoutai Majestic Prince episode 5 had Team Rabbits going on a co-op mission with Team Doberman to infiltrate an enemy base. Things did not go as planned because yet again the intelligence was wrong and they could not even contact the base this time. Before they went on the mission Team Doberman’s leader gave Izuru some advice and a mysterious disk that contained porn.
Randy’s advice in Ginga Kikoutai Majestic Prince about being a hero is a mixed bag. First he comes in with his belief that a hero has to be good looking and get lots of girls. Then on a more serious note he tells Izuru that leaders need to make decisions, never give up and believe in their team. Hopefully Izuru will ignore the parts about looks and girls while focusing on the important things. There is also the sad portion where Randy talks about living life to the fullest in case you do not come back. Good advice, but I wish he was not having to give it to a kid. Randy is kind of a weird mentor, but I am enjoying him while I can. I get the feeling that he will soon be dead, so that Team Rabbits will learn to stand on their own.
Randy is the hero because he is the most handsome and gets all the girls.
Ginga Kikoutai Majestic Prince is really excelling at having a good mix between comedy and action. Hardcore fans of mecha shows would probably not like this show still, but I am really liking the way it is paced. This show also does not throw as much jargon at the audience as many of the others do. That can be attributed to the fact that the fights are not such a blur of lasers that they have to be commented on, so the viewer knows what is going on.
After yet another mission where the adults send children into a mission without enough investigation of the target, I think it is safe to say this. Anime has found its disposable soldier of the future and it is children. Children are much easier to get replacements for than adults because you don’t have to wait as long. Children learn things much easier than adults if you catch them young enough. Children don’t know it is against their rights to have their minds wiped and will probably be dead before they know any better. If they survive then obviously it was worth it and things got better, so no one will complain. It is pretty disturbing in anime that it is always children in the experimental mech that no one has piloted before. Students being thrown into the front lines when they have not even graduated. This episode had an adult explaining to a child that he should live his life to the fullest because he could die at any time. You would think the good guys would at least use adults, but no they send children up against experienced adults at times. Would it really hurt so much to have the pilots be full grown adults at least?
