Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun First Impressions

Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun starts with Sakura trying to confess to Nozaki, but he believes she is a fan of his work. Sakura continues to try to get the point across, but instead ends up working with Nozaki on his manga. From then on Sakura helps Nozaki make shoujo manga and tries to get closer to him. Even at the end of the episode Sakura still can not get her feelings across to Nozaki.

Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun is the opposite of last season’s Mangaka-san to Assistant-san to. The manga artist in Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun is not interested in anything but Sakura’s talent. Sakura on the other hand really wants Nozaki to notice her and date her.

Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun bike fantasy

The best part of the episode is when Nozaki is having the two of them try out a tandem bike to use in his manga. The way he ends up trying to use it was definitely something I have never seen in a real shoujo manga. Who would bring a tandem bike to school to give girls an opportunity to ride it?

The worst part is that the problems with the relationship between Sakura and Nozaki could get repetitive pretty quickly. Nozaki is pretty thick headed and Sakura does not seem to be getting any more comfortable with telling him her feelings. That does not make a lot of sense really since she is around him so much and working with him without any problems.

Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun bike reality

Overall Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun is a typical shoujo show where the girl does something the boy is interested in hopes of him noticing her. She will probably spend most of the season with the relationship going nowhere, but the two of them making manga together is interesting enough even if the relationship is stalling. This show will most likely only appeal to fans of shoujo.
