Gaming is changing the world - It's big - Nerd Age

Today I woke up and realized something. Gaming has always changed the world, but no more so than today. People use it to rally charities and stand up for causes. Gamers form their own social networks and take up things important to them. If you’d like to get into gaming but don’t know what equipment you need, check out this buyers guide. You also need to make sure you have a good monitor to allow you to fully enjoy your game. This article thinks 144hz monitor is worth it so maybe check that out. Today we are going to do something a bit different. We are going to examine some of the ways gaming is changing the world.
Gaming for charity
Perhaps one of the most noteworthy charities is Child’s Play. They help bring happiness to children who are struggling. Often struggling just to continue living. But there are huge numbers of charities that have been helped by gaming events such as Doctors without Borders. In fact, we hope to host an event here for charity later on. To list all the organizations that have been helped this way would take too long. Even ones without direct funding may have received help on the side.
Gaming for a cause
Gaming has become so ingrained in our lives that it can change the course of history. A Korean Indie developer is actually not releasing their games in Korea to protest harmful policies. The Turtle Cream team is fighting against injustice. They are protesting the “Shut-down” policy that says game systems must be made so minors cannot play them after midnight. They are also protesting the “cooling-off” policy that minors cannot play more than 4 hours a day and only 2 hours at a time. Gaming is now an instrument for social change. We find that to be more than a bit amazing.
Gaming without borders
My life in gaming has allowed me to speak with people all over the globe. I have met nearly every nationality on earth through games. And I’m far from the only one, players every day break down borders. If you play with a significantly large group that has a messenger service and voice over internet protocols, there are no borders.
Gaming for the individual
As a child I and many of us grew up in terrible situations. Gaming not only provided me an escape, but fostered my love of reading, whether it be via ROMs played on the Fileproto emulator or through long RPG games on consoles and PC. This happened for many of us growing up as well. While it is a problem that the new generation of games isn’t exactly intellectually stimulating, it does provide that same outlet. The value to the individual can never be overlooked. And speaking of gaming for the individual, my friend recently wasn’t getting the best broadband service he could be getting he decided to try and get a new quote through Usave. He could of been happier with the results.
Gaming as a part of our culture
When many of us were growing up, you would never see something like the above video. A medley for Legend of Zelda? No, couldn’t happen. But now gaming has become part of the mass culture. Even major stars such as Robin Williams are gamers, his daughter is named Zelda. It’s becoming a world where the term “nerd” has little meaning when mentioned with games.
Gaming in the future
The number of people enjoying games is only going to go up. Our assertion here at Nerd Age is that one day gaming will enrich the lives of everyone on earth. It will also continue to provide comfort for people in a larger way than ever. On top of that we could see the entire economies of areas centered only on game development. It is a Brave New World, but perhaps not the nightmarish one Huxley foresaw. But then he didn’t have the games we did.
