GameStick – Competing with the Ouya

With the popularity of Android games growing, more gaming console options are starting to find their way onto the market. With interest growing for Andriod as a new gaming platform, many developers are looking to introduce their games to Android, for instance, games like Gacha Life. You can download or Télécharger Gacha life here. GameStick is a portable gaming device running with Android. This means that it will be competing with the Ouya. We will be going over what this device is and why it is interesting.

The GameStick itself

The GameStick itself is small enough to fit in the controller it comes with. It is similar in size to a USB drive. The idea itself is that the GameStick can plug into most any HDTV or Monitor to be used nearly anywhere.

The GameStick and Android

It will play the same Android games as other consoles. No more and no less. It looks like this is going to be a new trend. More and more developers will be jumping on the popularity of the android for games. This and the Ouya are likely just the start of a much larger wave coming later.

Something to think about

My personal concern is that we are losing something valuable with the popularity of Android. I have played mobile games extensively and have learned one thing: Developers do not try as hard. They deliver less features and gamers expect less. The market is also crowded with terrible games.

Asking for less and getting less

This is concerning because it doesn’t have to be this way. It’s not due to a limitation of Android. Some of the devices are powerful enough to run old classic games like Quake or Morrowind. We hope dearly that this new glut of consoles will raise the quality level. But that truly will not start until mobile gamers demand more.

Checking out the GameStick yourself

However you feel about this new trend, you can check out the GameStick yourself. Take a look at the official GameStick Kickstarter. You can get in and get an early edition before the price goes up as a whole.
