No Game No Life episode 5 does not have as much going on as the previous episodes. It starts off with Tet defending himself, saying that he is still staying neutral and not helping humanity. Then it catches up with Blank who have not been doing much ruling lately. Stephanie is ticked because they appear to be fooling around. In order to get them to do a better job Stephanie constantly challenges them and loses. Stephanie keeps picking games that she believes are just based on luck and finds that she still loses constantly. In the end the siblings reveal that they have been trying to find out information about this world the whole time, so that they have knowledge before playing against the other races. Unfortunately there are no libraries except the one that Stephanie’s grandfather lost to a Flugel. Blank goes at the end of the show to challenge the flugel to get access to the knowledge they need.
Stephanie’s assumption in this episode of No Game No Life was pretty silly. She claims they are playing around, but they are reading books. All it should have taken was a look at the books to see that they were not playing around. She also could have just asked what they were doing since it does not appear to have been a secret. So a lot of the episode was built around a silly premise. It felt like filler and should have just been half the episode with the middle of the episode starting the challenge against the flugel.
Have to wonder how Stephanie was able to learn so much when the only library was taken over. Seems weird that there is only one library as well. There is more than one library in just the city I live in. I know this world is not on the same technological scale as ours, but they have magic to be able to help create things in the world.
The two siblings being able to win at some of those games seems impossible. Even knowing the patterns of people’s movements the sister should not have been able to guess so accurately. I guess the point is that the siblings are always prepared for any kind of game. That they leave nothing to chance at all, so luck will never come into play for them.
