Game Development Programs Explored

The urge to create springs eternal in the heart of man. With that in mind there are a huge number of game development programs on sale all over the world. You can use an easy program, use a somewhat easy program to learn and even still code it yourself. It has become a cottage industry and we think it will only grow from here.

Game Development Programs Example

The AGFPRO Game Development Program as an Example

We’re using this as an example because it’s on sale right now and was in our press releases. Sorry for picking on you but it’s useful. This system allows you to create extremely detailed maps for FPS and RPG games as well as platformers. The upside is that you can make a game fairly easily with some decent visuals. The downside is that you can’t have gameplay way out of the ordinary which is where the double-edged sword cuts.

The Downside of Game Development Programs

The fact that, to one degree or another, they are all on rails is the drawback. From Unity to the hundreds of others the games they make have some similarities. It might be anything from gameplay to the world they are in. To some degree this will stifle creativity. Does it balance out with how many new people are now developing? We aren’t sure yet.

What Game Development Programs have Changed

So far they’ve added a huge number of games to the market, for better or worse. More people than ever before are “developers”. It has also started an entirely new industry based around selling these to people. We will see more marketing and other companies using these. We also have many more people using sample assets and such to create their games. It’s a major feature of many of these programs. Will this make the industry better or worse? We suggest you keep an eye on it to find out.
