Since it is one of the hottest games right now everyone wants to know what is going to happen in the future of Starbound. Recently the developers did a short news post on it that we are going to discuss. We are also going to discuss the similarities of what they are doing to what Mojang attempted in the past.
The Future of Starbound as a Game
They have revealed that the game is going to be structured differently when it is done. Pixels will be more important as they will allow you to get to the mission at the end. You will gather pixels, complete a tier 1 mission then fight a boss, get some tech then gain access to the next tier. Quite a bit different from the current system.
Pixels will be easier to get in ways like running a home building business or being a farmer. This sounds like an amazing addition that we are really looking forward to. As it is now the character wandering can feel a bit aimless.
The endgame is going to have PVP where you form teams and get everything running. There will also be a director mode which will allow you to better control your scenarios and let the director control everything on a planet. In the same way users will be able to share missions.
The Future of Starbound and Chucklefish
They are going to be opening new offices, publishing games for people and much more. Mojang went down this same path with games like Cobalt. Unfortunately with Mojang their first party games always overshadowed the others. Even some of the other first party games. That being said they look like nice games with dedicated developers. Take a look at one above. We wish Chucklefish the best with it but are a bit concerned it might not all go right. In this day and age media buzz is what matters. At any rate if you would like to read the post yourself take a look.
