Zetsuen no Tempest the Civilization Blaster does not have a new concept. It does however present an old concept in a fresh way. However this show has so much going on that it stands out from the pack. I was expecting to be thoroughly dissapointed by this show, and was pleasantly surprised.
The story of Zetsuen no Tempest the Civilization Blaster
Zetsuen no Tempest the Civilization Blaster follows some young men and women with magic powers. Another young man who looks like he is out of another show is causing an ancient evil to awaken. It is creating a plague that turns people into metal. There is also a sub-plot with one of the young men who wants to avenge his sister. While none of this is new, it is presented in an intriguing way. There is always something going on.
The Sleek Style of Zetsuen no Tempest the Civilization Blaster
With this show, Style is not just about art. The characters represent themselves with Style. The art is stylishly drawn. The fights are fantastically styled as well. Most of all, something is almost always happening. There are brief parts where nothing intriguing is happening, but they happen rarely. The show has a fresh style that is just too fresh for me.
The one major negative of Zetsuen no Tempest the Civilization Blaster
I had complained before that characters have been too generic lately. This show takes it to a whole new level. The main boys are generic. The villain looks like he was straight-up stolen. A major female character who looks like she came from Fairy Tail. Of course, Fairy Tail itself is a blatant ripoff of many other shows before their time. Not a single human design in this show looks original. I can literally go down the whole cast and point out who they look like in an older show. The problem is so blatant that I nearly docked them two points for it instead of one.
The story of a driven, powerful character searching for a killer has been done. But the voice actor and artist put so much thought into this point that you can just feel it here.
Status 4/5 : Well Above Average – From the art to the voice acting, everything about this show just has so much style. Zetsuen no Tempest the Civilization Blaster has style all over it. This makes it stand out despite not having a fresh concept. However most of this show getting a good score, is the fact that a virtual unknown made me want to watch more. This rarely happens when you have seen as many shows as I have. However it is held back by some poor designs. They would do well to improve them so that they can stay like Medaka Box, so they can stay:
