Wooser’s Hand-to-Mouth Life was something I really was not expecting. From first looking at it I thought that it would be another cute short show for kids, but it is not exactly what it seems to be. As can be seen even from the title Wooser’s Hand-to-Mouth Life that this is probably not for children since they would not understand the expression and that Wooser is suppose to have a very bare existence with only the essentials.
Wooser’s Hand-to-Mouth Life is a short show, but it is even shorter than it initially appears because it is a collection of shorts. The shorts have nothing in common and are each like an animation of a four panel comic. The setting of the show goes from a zoo, to a farm, and a pirate ship. All the settings are done in a very cute style that is usually associated with little girls. It would be nothing to comment on except the audience for this show should not be little girls.
Wooser’s Hand-to-Mouth Life centers on Wooser who is cold, cynical and greedy. He also looks like a stuffed animal. Along with him is Rin who seems to be a bit more innocent. Rin plays the straight man to Wooser’s jokes. Most of the jokes are Wooser’s thoughts about life which are kind of jaded. Kids would not be able to understand what he is talking about. They would appreciate the sight gags though.
Rin’s friend with pigtails is not in more than one short in the show, but she really stands out. So far she seems to be in the show for sex appeal. She is riding a cow in very little clothing shooting a gun. In the ending she is wearing an outfit that shows her cleavage when Rin is wearing normal nightclothes. This would not phase me except the style of the show makes the blatant sexuality stand out. Luckily it is not so much that I am worried about children seeing it because I would not be surprised if other people thought this show was for kids at first.
Overall I like this show way more than I thought I would. I enjoy Wooser’s cynical outlook while looking like a stuffed animal. The contrast between the looks and content is really striking, but I do not know how long that will be entertaining.
