Moretsu Pirates or Bodacious Space Pirates is a story about a girl who inherits a spaceship from her dad.
In the first episode of Moretsu Pirates, Marika is being followed by a couple of strangers. They even come to her job at a maid cafe. Later at home she finds out that those strangers worked with her father and are there to convince her to be the new captain of his crew of space pirates. At first Marika can’t believe it because space pirates are supposed to be something out of history. After finding out they are truly legal pirates Marika really thinks about what she wants to do.
So far Moretsu Pirates is just showing off the characters and presenting the situation. There isn’t much to talk about here. It could be interesting if they do it correctly or it could be very bad. The pacing seems to be pretty good and this show leaves me wanting more since at the end of the episode, it still isn’t clear what she is going to do. I mean obviously she will be the captain or there would be no show, but how will she decide that is what she will do.
The main character is the naive, clueless girl surrounded by people who know what is going on. This isn’t very innovative, so I don’t know what to think. Watching her reactions to all that is going on around her, I think they are pretty off the mark for how they should be. She should be much more surprised considering the bomb dropped on her. She didn’t even think pirates existed anymore for goodness sake.
The one fight sequence I saw was not very well done. Hope they do better later. I guess they could be saving the good fight sequences for space.
Status: Will probably watch again to see what is going on.

I love the first 4 episodes and iwait to watch the next
