First Impressions: Tasogare Otome x Amnesia

Tasogare Otome x Amnesia otherwise know as Dusk Maiden of Amnesia is about a school club that investigates paranormal activity. This first impression is based on the first two episodes.

Tasogare Otome x Amnesia starts by showing Momoe working on investigations for the club while paranormal activity happens around her. Niya comes in and has a conversation with Momoe that Momoe misunderstands. Then the third member of the club arrives and they all go to check out a site of paranormal activity. These scenes are all repeated with the addition of a ghost. In the second episode it shows how the club was first started.

We are going to start with two unusual things about this show.

One of the biggest complaints about this show so far has been about the fact the first episode shows the same scenes twice only adding one character. I think that it adds something showing it first without the ghost and not knowing what exactly to expect and then seeing what is really going on with the ghost. If they had showed the ghost to begin with it would not have the same impact and with the ghost stealing so much of the show, it would be harder to see how the girl who can’t see her sees everything. It was a good move to show things that way in the first episode to show a point of view.

Another odd thing was having a normal day with no background in the first episode and then going back in the second episode to the beginning with no warning. I hope this is an indication that the whole series is going to go out of order like Haruhi. I understand the point of view in the first episode, but maybe that could have gone after explaining how things started. Either way I hope that things go in order from now on.

I originally thought this was going to be a horror show, but so far it is more of a comedy. It looks like it might have a twist later on though and go in a different direction. It is still quite good the way it is though.

Overall this show is good with a comedy twist on the paranormal. The artwork is quite good as well.
