Mawaru Penguindrum starts off as a typical slice of life show about two brothers and a sister that they dote on. They go on a trip to the zoo and the sister ends up in the hospital and from that point on the show changes. Soon it goes from normal and pretty boring to what the crap is going on. The very beginning had given a bit of insight that things might change with talk of fate and life being cruel, but I did not expect the way that things turned out. At the end of the show I was left with many questions that I hope will be answered later in the series. This leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
I can’t say the first episode was really good, but it wasn’t so bad I will give up on this show already. I am so curious about what is going to happen. The art for the show is bright and colorful which really is a contrast to the dark foreshadowing to the future they keep doing in the show. The music left no impact on me whatsoever, so it wasn’t really that great. I am going to keep watching this show just to see how things turn out.
