Shirokuma Cafe is a show about animals that are realistic looking, but act like people.
Shirokuma Cafe starts with a panda that lives with his mother and doesn’t want to work named Panda. His mom convinces him to find at least a part time job using a vacuum. After Panda has no success looking for a job over the phone he is walking around when he discovers a cafe. This cafe is hiring, but they turn down Panda. Panda eventually finds work as a part time panda at the zoo.
At first I thought this show was going to be off the wall with the opening having the polar bear, panda, and penguin in some magical car that could transform. By the time it turned into a spaceship I was very impressed. Then the actual show started and it is about a lazy pampered panda boy. I was kind of disappointed by this turn of events.
The animals are so freaking adorable. Watching them is joy all by itself. The polar bear like to dress up for puns which is cute as well. If you are looking for a show with cute factor this is the one. I doubt any show this season will out cute this animal show.
The humor in this show is pretty low key. Unless you find animals trying to do human tasks hilarious it will not be very funny. There are also puns, but they are Japanese puns so they don’t work as well when translated.
Overall I expected something completely different out of this show. Instead of getting something ridiculous and wild this show is pretty tame. The animals are cute, but I don’t think that is enough to make a show watchable. So this anime is mostly for people who find animals doing human work hilarious or people wanting to see something cute.
