Rozen Maiden Zurückspulen is about living dolls fighting to become the perfect doll named “Alice.” They are trying to gain all the Rosa Mystica to achieve that goal.
The story of Rozen Maiden Zurückspulen in episode one is a sped up version of the story from the first two series. Two of the dolls lose their Rosa Mystica in the first episode. The way the story is going so quickly makes it hard to follow or get very attached to any of the dolls. It appears that the show will quickly finish the whole story then tell the story of what would have happened to Jun without Shinku. If the viewer does not get to see much of what Jun’s life is like with Shinku, then how are we supposed to use this to help with comparison for the rest of the story. Basically this episode is mostly a refresher for people who already know what is going on. People new to the series should learn something about it before watching this show.
Rozen Maiden Zurückspulen has very nice looking backgrounds and animation. The characters were updated very nicely from how they looked back in 2006.
Just look at the difference between these two versions of Shinku. Just shows how much better animation can look now.
Not much to say about the characters themselves because it was so rushed. They had Hinaichigo freaking out about being alone with no backstory. I have no idea why she is obsessed with being around others. Also the twins storyline about being separated came out of no where and ended before it was explored much.
Overall it is nice that they are reminding the people who watched the show when it came out about what happened, but this is not for new viewers. As a new viewer myself this is not for me.
Status: Not Watching. Does not seem friendly to new viewers.
