Photo Kano is about a boy named Kazuya who receives his Dad’s old camera over the summer holidays. Kazuya find that his camera changes his perspective of the world. Now he is always looking for the opportunity to take photographs. Little did Kazuya know that there are photography stalkers that will recruit people as soon as they start taking pictures. So Kazuya soon finds himself trying to decide between two photo clubs to join.
Photo Kano visually looks very good because it has been made by Madhouse. Unfortunately with its roots being a dating sim there is way too much focus on the body parts of women and less on animating what is going on. For instance while Kazuya is talking about the school clubs all they show are girls’ butts.

Photo Kano teaches a valuable lesson that all guys are perverts. Girls can be perverts or not depending on their personality, but guys have to be. The idea that all guys with a camera want to take pictures just of girls’ body parts is so ridiculous. Even if that is what they are thinking about not all guys are going to want to do that. Just like girls some guys would want to take pictures of something besides a girl’s panties or cleavage. I hope the whole rest of the show is not about getting semi perverted pictures of girl for the crazy photography club president. It does not even make sense that the school would allow such a club to exist. Someone would report them and then they should have been closed down.
The photography club does get props for being well rounded though. They have a boob guy, a low angle guy, and an all around girl to catch the unexpected. Wonder what is the specialty of the club president. Also it sounds like they have it all covered, so what would Kazuya do? Specialize in his school celebrity friends perhaps.
Overall this show feels just like they took the cut scenes out of a dating sim. I guess that is a good thing since it is from a dating sim, but they could do a better job adapting it to make a good anime.
