My Teen Romantic Comedy Snafu is about a club who helps people with their problems. Unfortunately the club members have trouble interacting with other people. The main character Hachiman does not believe in enjoying being young or hanging out with friends. Hachiman’s teacher sets him up with the Service Club and he gets into a competition with the only other member to be the most helpful.
The story of My Teen Romantic Comedy Snafu is borrowed from many influences. The Service Club is quite obviously a lot like clubs from Medaka Box or Sket Dance. The characters themselves coming together seem like they are recreating the Haganai group accidentally. Then they bring in an 8th grade syndrome student in second episode which I have seen that a few times recently as well. Most of the recent trends in shows have come together in this show and it is not a really good mix.
Even the problems they solve in My Teen Romantic Comedy Snafu are silly. The predictable helping a girl bake cookies for guy. Then they help the 8th grade syndrome guy with his book. There should be bigger problems at this school than cookies and books.
The characters in My Teen Romantic Comedy Snafu are the usual line up for a show about misfits:
- The haughty pretty girl that people look up to, but do not really like.
- The weird guy that likes to pretend that he is alone of his own free will.
- Weird guy will later learn that he was actually lonely that whole time.
- The really friendly girl that hangs on to the popular group, but can not get in.
Overall I have seen this show before several times done better than this.
Status: Not Watching. Watch one of the shows it is borrowing ideas from instead like Medaka Box or Haganai.
