Lupin the Third: Mine Fujiko to Iu Onna is obviously a new Lupin the Third anime, but this is a bit different than your average Lupin. This show contains quite a bit of nudity, so it is not for children or the workplace.
Lupin the Third: Mine Fujiko to Iu Onna starts with a cult ritual where the leader lets off drugs to keep his congregation. The cult leader is then married to a veiled woman on stage that slips him something on stage. At that point the cult leader and his bride leave the rest of the cult behind to be alone. While the cult leader is gone someone lets off an explosion amongst the rest of the cult. Then Lupin appears heading after the newly married couple. When he gets there he meets up with the bride who turns out to be Fujiko Mine and they are after the same thing. After that they are caught, escape and have a competition to see who will get the item in question.
When I first heard that a new Lupin television show was coming out I was not looking forward to it. I had watched some of the show before, but I was never able to get into it for some reason. This version is much better than I expected. The different tactics the two thieves use and not knowing how things will turn out makes it more exciting then Lupin was for me before.
The art style for this show is not the most beautiful, but I like it. Lupin the Third is not a new franchise and the art gives it an older look without looking really bad. Of course they did a very nice job on Fujiko, every last part of her since you will see almost every part of her in this show.
The opening almost made me stop watching because it looks like some kind of art film. There is a sketchy Fujiko Mine in the nude talking about what stealing means to her in an abstract way. This seemed very strange for a action show, but it definitely makes the show stand out.
Overall this show is definitely worth watching whether you like Lupin the Third or not because Lupin the Third: Mine Fujiko to Iu Onna keeps what makes Lupin unique while making it better.
