Kyou no Asuka Show
Kyou no Asuka Show starts with Asuka walking around with her panties showing. All the guys around are blatantly staring. For some reason Asuka attracts a lot of attention wherever she goes. A new guy shows up who thinks he can be a hero by telling her that her panties were showing. Asuka shrugs the panty thing off and apologizes to the guy. The guy pushes the issue and ends up looking like a pervert instead of a hero.
The guys in Kyou no Asuka Show all come across as perverts. It seems a little far fetched to me that all guys in the area would just stare a girl’s panties. It isn’t like her tits were out. Also no one with good intentions came up to tell her about it which is weird. Girls do not normally go crazy over a guy that tells her something like that. She would normally get shy, so the man’s motivation to tell her was pretty misplaced.
Kyou no Asuka Show can come across as a girl that likes to expose herself at this point, but really she is kind of naive. I read some of the manga and she spends a lot of time doing experiments about what is acceptable like when to wear a swimsuit. Rather than a brazen hussy she is more curious since her father apparently does something with nude women for a living. Maybe future episodes will give us a better look at the Nu Bay of the Kyou no Asuka Show world.
Asuka’s eyes are really striking in this show, which I love. They look so innocent. They appeared like that in the manga when she is shown up close.
Status: Watching. The manga was cute and the first episode was exactly like it.
Maji de Otaku na English! Ribbon-chan: Eigo de Tatakau Mahou Shoujo
Maji de Otaku na English! Ribbon-chan: Eigo de Tatakau Mahou Shoujo is a magical girl show that is made to teach otakus English. The problem is that their is not enough emphasis on the English or what little plot you can put into a four minute show.
The story for the show, well there was not really any. They kept repeating the same scene with different narrators and stopping to break the fourth wall. Also it was the final battle in the first episode so there was no real emotional involvement with the characters. I do not even know what their powers are besides knowing English. The point of this show is not about the story though, so let us move on to the teaching portion.

This first phrase in addition to being something that is not useful to someone in a real life situation does not even using proper grammar.

Obviously this comes up all the time when you are watching anime with foreigners.
Now that I have shown all the phrases I will tell you my major problems with this whole thing. I have helped some people learn English as a second language and this is all wrong. The first phrase is not teaching them the proper way to put a sentence together in English. The second phrase is pretty abstract and it is best to work on more concrete things that the person can see and associate the words with before abstracts like feelings. The third phrase is calling this the final episode when it is the first episode. It is better to avoid complicated things like this when someone is learning something. What a person learns at first can stick with them and be very hard to change their mindset.
Final Thoughts: Might be amusing because of the “teaching” material, but is not really a good way to learn English. I hope this is some kind of joke.
