Kamisama Kiss is about Nanami who got kicked out of her home because of her father’s debt. Just before she has to spend a night on the streets, she saves a man who is afraid of dogs. After telling him her life story, the man gives her his home and kisses her on the forehead. When Nanami goes to his house she find a rundown shrine. Nanami is about to leave when mysterious things come after her. The guardian of the shrine tells her she is the new deity of the shrine. Nanami has to prove she has what it takes to be a deity, if she even wants to.
Kamisama Kiss is based on a manga that I have already read part of, so I put this off because I was afraid of how it would turn out. After finally getting around to watching the first two episodes, I am pleasantly surprised. The first episode contains the first four chapters of the manga. After the first episode they skip the next storyline where they show Nanami fulfilling someone’s wish. I am a little disappointed that they are not showing her doing her job yet. Hopefully they will get to that soon. So they are condensing this story a lot, but it still is pretty true to the original.
The story for Kamisama Kiss has a different beginning than most, but it appears to be going in the standard from hate to love formula. This is not a show for people who dislike typical shojo romances because there is little else going on in this show.
The worst parts of this show are the voices for Onikiri and Kotetsu. They are so grating and in the first episode they talk almost the entire time. Onikiri and Kotetsu need less speaking parts in the future for the sake of my ears.
Overall I like this story and it is not totally butchered, so I will be sticking with it.
