Maken-Ki is about Takeru going to a new school which until recently was all girls. This isn’t just a school with hots girls though. The school uses special magic and combat. Takeru finds out the hard way since he makes enemies right off the bat. This show is ecchi and not for younger audiences.
Well in Maken-Ki you get to see what happens when you make decisions using something besides your head. The main character picked a school because it just recently started allowing boys. Did not find out anything else about the school. Then on the first day he gets called out to do combat with a magic system that he doesn’t even understand, let alone use.
In the first episode, Takeru meets up with his childhood friend, Amaya. She is older and has been going to this school for a while already. Then the cliche ecchi moments start.
Then after they go to school Takeru starts to see signs that things are not normal. He is distracted by more ecchi time though.
At that point, I was getting made that they were wanting to take all the ecchi cliches. Then they showed this gem.
The first one is the mark on the main character from Maken-Ki and the second one is the curse mark on Sasuke from Naruto. Why are they using the same freaking mark? It will probably have a meaning later, but for not they just tease us by showing it. After showing that they go to the opening ceremony where Takeru finally finds out he has screwed up. This is also where the harem fully assembles.
The characters are not going to save this cliched ecchi show. We have the perverted glasses guy, the overprotective best friend, tsundere girl and secret fiancee the whole cliche harem group is here. There does not appear to be anything different or likeable about them. Gosh even the character design for the tsundere girl makes me mad. She had pigtails and braids. Why does she need both? Pick one please having both just looks stupid.
The opening for the show this time is cold so no comment about that. The ending has music that was ok, but at the very end the Amaya is standing in an awkward position doing something.
At first she is mad, which is understandable, but then she is embarrassed. Is she touching herself later or something?
Well overall I don’t find this show to be very good. The characters and concepts throughout this episode are so cliche it hurts. If you are a big fan of watching the same show with a couple differences over and over then this is for you. I would not recommend this show.
