Cube x Cursed x Curious otherwise known as C³ is about a boy who is immune to curses that is sent a mysterious cube by his dad. During the night he finds a naked-girl-rice-cracker-thief in his kitchen. The girl turns out to be the human form of the cube. This show is ecchi and not for children.
The first thing that stands out about Cube x Cursed x Curious is that the use of color is very unique. Sometimes the use of color can be in a good way, but a lot of the time it distracts from the rest of the picture. It looks like the artists are trying to emphasis the light in the anime which could be nice if this were an artistic piece, but it is an anime and shouldn’t distract you from the the action. It would have been better if they had done less with adding streaks of colors for the light overall.
After getting past the art of the show there is the story for C³ or the lack thereof. If the writers were just trying to show what a hassle the cube girl was to Haruaki Yachi, then they did a good job. Arguing, stealing and destroying the house are major parts of the first episode, but they don’t give me a clue to where this show is going. It looks like a slice of life, but when I read descriptions of what the show is supposed to be about, I see they are going to fight something. I don’t see that at all in the first episode.
Here she is fighting against the dreaded washing machine. The machine is winning sadly.
Finally the characters so far are pretty bland and generic. Fear or Fiya, the cube girl, is like Chi from Chobits or any other girl trying to learn about the world in anime. Haruaki Yachi is a typical accommodating host that doesn’t even ask much about her. He even has a typical overprotective and possibly in love with him friend that fights with Fear. I have seen these characters many times and if they don’t change it up some this show will turn out bland due to these characters being that way.
Status: Checked out the second episode and it got better. There was action and some interesting stuff going on. Might keep watching this series since it picked up some.
