First Impressions Summer Anime 2011: Double-J

I had high hopes for Double-J  just from seeing Cromartie High School connected to it. The show was not what I expected at all. The art style is unique in that the lines around the characters are very thick. It looks good, just different from what I am used to. Also the backgrounds are not drawn, it appears to be a real classroom with the characters animated over it. That is going to take a while to get used to since I am used to the background and characters being animated. Double-J should have had more introduction to the characters. The show jumps right in as if you watched it before. The episode was focused on the club and the jokes were centered on one random thing.  The whole first episode reminds me of the first episode of Lucky Star with the chocolate cornet. I am going to watch this show a bit more,  hoping it is going to get better. If it stays the way it is then it is DROPPED.

In this picture you can see how the background appears to be a real place.
