Coppelion is about three genetically altered teen girls going into a hazardous area that normal humans can not go into without hazmat suits. The girls are trying to find people setting off SOS signals from the dangerous area to save them. The advisers for the group have different plans than the girls do, for instance when a man was found one of the girls automatically tried to help him. The vice principal did not approve. The girls get separated along the way when one girls stays back to talk to a dog, so he will not follow them. After they are apart the other girls find out that some of the dogs have gone feral and plan to go back and save her.
Even if I did not know who was making Coppelion, it has Gohands written all over it. The blinding blue is back in this show although they are holding back on using it in this post apocalyptic setting. Unfortunately along with the distracting blue coloring there is also an extremely thick outline on the characters. It is really jarring with the characters looking so cartoonish next to the stunning backgrounds.
The story for Coppelion so far is pretty slow. Most of it is all the fun of watching girls walk around a deserted town. It seems like this anime has an interesting story to tell, but it needs to move along and tell it. For instance I would like to know what happened to make this land uninhabitable, how long has it been this way and even more things. It seems like they would have engineered the girls after the incident, but how could people still be alive after all that time? They could have sped up the girls growth, but I want to know for sure. I may never know though if the pace of this anime does not pick up.
Overall the show has some beautiful scenery and if the story would match up with it that would be perfect. The end of the episode makes it seem like things could be getting more exciting.
