F.E.A.R Online is going to be the next F2P FPS game out there. It seems like a huge number of shooter games are taking this same route. We are a bit worried it will lose something since single player was the focus of the game to begin with.
F.E.A.R. Online and Gameplay
The game will focus on team combat between groups. The Soul King mode will also come back and allow you to take over bodies. Hopefully they will expand this mode as it is reminds me of Geist, which was a great FPS. It really stood out for a similar mode. The different bodies you can possess also have special powers to use. Variety will determine whether this mode works or not.
The F.E.A.R. Online Setting
The maps will be modeled after the older games. This means there will be plenty of blood and disturbing sounds. The Armacham Technology Corporation and the F.E.A.R. team will be fighting over these areas. Four players can team up for scenarios as well where they take on more traditional monsters. Of course that part concerns us as it looks like the single-player will be taking a back seat. Aeria Games is not exactly known for their incredible single-player experiences. Our guess is that the game is going to pretty much be all VS and the rest won’t really worth be playing.

If you are interested in this game check out the Aeria Games site. You may remember them as the makers of a great number of terrible but very popular MMO games. These include Eden Eternal and Scarlet Blade. Let us hope that F.E.A.R. Online doesn’t end up as bad as most of their games. However we don’t have high hopes here.
