You may remember our preview of ETHER VAPOR Remaster. Well the full version is out now. Basically our second verse is the same as the first, ETHER VAPOR Remaster is impressive for an indie doujin game. It is not afraid to take risks. Nor is it afraid to play with the perspective of the player.
Graphics and Gameplay working together in ETHER VAPOR Remaster
The graphics actually add to the gameplay. Enemies attack from the foreground and background. Your perspective changes over time. It all flows smoothly though, and you can learn the patterns of the enemies.
The Sound of ETHER VAPOR Remaster
The soundtrack is also nice. While not the greatest we’ve ever heard, it is still quite good. It is all what you would expect from a decent shmup. The songs in the second stage are particularly good. As far as SFX, they are up to the standard set by other shmups.
The Story of ETHER VAPOR Remaster
The story itself is average. While the characters are nicely drawn, it has nothing you have not seen before. This is fairly standard for a doujin game, so you cannot fault it too much. Shmups, as a whole, are not known for their great story.

ETHER VAPOR Remaster brings you an excellent package. It brings a high level of quality in all areas that doujin shmups cover. It also uses perspective in ways that very few games manage to. It only falls short in the fact that it doesn’t go far enough with the perspective changes and has a lackluster story. Still, this is an excellent value and well worth playing.
Where to get ETHER VAPOR Remaster
The best place to get it right now is on Steam. For $7.99 it has a really good price. You get quite a bit of gameplay, in a style only seen in a few games.
