Endless Space continues to get new updates. This one is known as the Lights of Polaris. It brings some very nice updates to the game.
The Endless Space Lights of Polaris Story
This particular add-on has a Santa’s Workshop story. However this version of the workshop is a factory in space. You have to build the wonder and find out what is going on.
In more practical terms it means a new hero to stand in for Santa. It also means a new wonder to stand in for Santa’s workshop. These are some nice additions to the overall gameplay.
What Lights of Polaris brings to Endless Space
This is what basically amounts to the holiday event for Endless Space. There are several new bonuses to the game in this update:
- A new Polaris Factory Wonder
- A new Oros Gec Faction Hero
- Steam Achievements
- Steam cloud features
- Battle actions that you can set in auto
- Better battle action AI
- Redone faction traits
- A new “No Pirates” option
- A new “Hide exploration flags in galaxy view” option
As you can see there is not as much content as some previous add-ons. It is however nice to have a holiday event with new content.
What Endless Space teaches us about gaming
By giving this free content it inspires goodwill for the game. Goodwill inspires increased purchases for cosmetic items. This game teaches developers that they can have DLC without hurting fans. It’s a good lesson to learn for the whole industry.
Where Endless Space goes from here
We expect them to continue releasing free content. The moment they don’t, we will of course call them on it. However so far they seem to be listening to fans and giving free updates.
