The 4X experts at Amplitude are attempting to change the setting of that genre. For years now it has pretty much been space, space and more space for these games. Now people want to test a new formula.
The Endless Legend Setting
A war-torn world is being torn apart even further by the various races within. All the classic fantasy tropes are here including a few ones we really love like arcane machines.
The Vaulters and Necrophages are two of the most interesting races they have added to the world. One features the classic power of humanity and the other showcases the horror of alien entities.
Endless Legend and Gameplay
From what we have seen so far this one is going to play much more closely to previous turn-based and top-down titles in the past than many of their other games. We are interested in seeing what new mechanics they bring to the traditional mix of conquering cities and rampaging through armies.
The Art of Endless Legend
Early shots show that the game is extremely detailed. Perhaps even more so than their previous games. We expect to see some more absolutely beautiful settings down the road as well.
The Endless Legend Early Access Deal
Right now there are two packages for $26.24 and $33.74 on Steam. Both of them come with the game and some additional perks. One major benefit that they are working into their games is content for other games. For example if you get the founders pack you get some content for Dungeon of the Endless.
This branding of content across all games that a developer does is something we are seeing more and more. It’s too soon to say whether this is good or bad for gaming but it is very interesting. We do find it amusing their games seem to have “Endless” somewhere in the title.
