If you enjoyed Brothers Conflict then get ready for that anime with vampires. Diabolik Lovers has all the terrible Shoujo cliches you love including:
- An overly generic main character who everyone falls in love with
- Awkward moments in which every love interest licks her cheek
- Supernatural events, in this case vampires
- Mean and nice love interests
- Little boy with teddy bear love interest
- Incredibly generic artwork
- Three of the voice actors from Brothers Conflict
- Cliffhangers that go nowhere
- THEY ARE ALL BROTHERS AND SHE IS NOT RELATED TO THEM
If you love a show with nothing new or original then Diabolik Lovers is for you. For those who just want to imagine themselves as the girl being desired by vampires, this is perfect.
The Diabolik Lovers First Episode
A girl is sent to live with vampires by her father. Vampires go insane with desire over her much like Twilight because she smells and tastes delicious. Again like Twilight the vampires aren’t vulnerable to their normal weaknesses. They are also all incredibly handsome. The vampires spend half the time scaring her but not actually hurting her.
They do eventually drink some of her blood and it gets somewhat creepy, which is the only good part. Unfortunately this happens early on spoiling any dramatic tension. They can’t even do a harem tension build up right. After this point it becomes them horribly abusing her for a bit which teaches women to stay with men who make them bleed and try to drown them. No it is not romantic if he saves you after putting you in peril.
For Everyone Else who Watches Diabolik Lovers
Do not bother. This is just a terrible ripoff of things that actual good shows from Hana Yori Dango to Fushigi Yuugi did better and earlier. Go watch one of them instead.
The King of the Cliche
If something is terrible and overused, it is here. Run far, far away from this show so that it cannot ruin your taste. However if you have no taste be sure to enjoy it. It has everything someone with no knowledge or taste would love. Have fun. This may actually be a worse love story than Twilight.

If you have never seen a series like this you may think it’s decent for half a second due to the art. The art is fine. It has been done before but isn’t terrible. Unfortunately it gathers every horrible cliche that pretty much any series has done before. I keep saying Shoujo cannot get any worse and I’m always wrong.
