Dead Rising 3 was recently announced and we’re wondering whether the series can stay good into the third copy. Many games fall short on their third portion including Twisted Metal among others.
A Bigger, Darker Direction for Dead Rising 3
This Capcom series always had a darker sense of humor than many of their other titles. However they have decided to make things grittier in this one. We are a bit skeptical about whether this change is for the best.
They also plan to have larger environments than ever before. The tagline they’re sending out is that the area of Los Perdidos is a “world bigger than the first two titles combined,” which should be true as it is an entire city. We hope the timed missions have a generous allowance to get across such an area.
The Dead Rising 3 Vehicle Focus
Vehicles played a somewhat bigger role in two. In three they will be coming back with additional types and importance. You can also make more combo vehicles like the RollerHawg, a steamroller and motorcycle combined.
Dead Rising 3 Grabs Gimmicks
While most of this sounds amazing we are less enthusiastic about the gimmicks. Xbox SmartGlass will be a part of the experience where someone on a tablet or phone can summon in airstrikes and such. It also has Kinect functionality to give commands and taunt zombies. This is all a bit underwhelming since many of us just want to play the game.
Dead Rising 3 Multiplayer
The multiplayer was pretty much the best part of Resident Evil 6 and this game has the same drop-in and drop-out system. This game has a system that is pretty much the same. The game is currently slated for a November 2013 release although we expect this to change. Be sure to check out Capcom Unity for more information later on.
