Man we really, really hate to report on anything Kotaku has also done. We don’t like to be associated with terrible writing. Unfortunately we are going to do so here because this is just too funny. Date a Gamer is a site where you can try to well, Date a Gamer.

Almost 2,000 British gamers between 18 and 35 were polled on 10 popular female computer characters. The site took the “best” characteristics of several female characters and put them together. Check out the result:

Why they thought this was a good idea was beyond us. It looks and reads like a fan fiction character out of nightmares. It also stands as a shining example of the fact that you should not throw everything together. It reminds me of this scene in the animated version of Welcome to the NHK:

What is Date a Gamer Anyway?

Other than that, we have no problem with the site. It is one of many, many dating and hookup sites, all of which catering to different niches. Want a london escort specifically? That’s covered. Want a good Christian partner so you can pray on the date? Sites like Christian Connection have got your back. This one just caters specifically to gamers. However, unlike some dating sites out there, they have had some hilariously ridiculous ideas so far.

They have also paired up with “Game” stores in the past to set up “dating zones” in their stores. You may recall that “Game” has filed for administration, which is pretty much bankruptcy. We doubt that setting up nerd dating zones would have worked well. Gamers who do want to start dating would be better off investing in some nice clothes, or even trying a pheromone perfume from True Pheromones, for example, rather than visiting these “dating zones”.

A note on being “such a nerd”

Unfortunately, this site and others like it are symptoms of normal people claiming to be nerds. This is happening more and more each day. We want to take a second to remind you that you are not a nerd because you played angry birds on your phone. Nor are you one just because you wear glasses. You are not a nerd because you can use a computer. Yes, we are making fun of you when you say things like this, because you deserve it. In my personal opinion, you are only a nerd if you suffered for it somehow.
