A while back we did a review on the original Croixleur and enjoyed it very much. Now Croixleur Sigma has been released on Steam so we’re going to go over it briefly for you.
Additional Content and Improved Gameplay
Croixleur Sigma takes all the great things about the original and adds co-op, leaderboards and achievements. There are also:
- More Weapons
- New Modes
- Full Japanese Voices
As well as quite a few more interesting additions. While we surely enjoyed the original this one is better all around.
What Makes Croixleur Sigma Enjoyable?
What makes it so enjoyable is that you are constantly earning weapons, leveling and achieving things as you play. In each mode you can collect additional weapons and coins.
At heart it’s a beat-em-up that takes advantage of the 3D arenas. With this setup you can easily chain attacks together with dashes and specials to do some impressive combos. It’s somewhere between Devil May Cry and Tales of Phantasia and fun all the way through.
Another Note on Croixleur Sigma Art
We mentioned it briefly before in our review but it has some really nice art in both 3D and 2D styles. While there is less 2D to be seen it adds a nice accent to small parts of the game.
One Reservation on Croixleur Sigma
Even though it’s better than the earlier game in nearly every way it’s still the same game. Same characters and mostly the same enemies. That being said we enjoyed it quite a bit and the co-op is definitely great if you have a friend over. If you did not play the original then you are in for a real treat.
Getting Croixleur Sigma
The good news is that like so many Doujin games it is quite inexpensive. You can get it on Steam for $7.99. We really had a lot of fun with the game here so in our opinion it is definitely worth it.
