Connected UK - a resource for european developers - Nerd Age
08
While we are an American company, we want to help developers all over the world. That’s why we thought you might be interested in Connected UK. From May to June there will be 4 huge events centered around developers and the United Kingdom. These will be centered on 4 sectors. There will be speakers for content, audiences, platforms and money.
Well that sounds interesting
The location will be One Wimpole Street, London, W1G 0AE. Ticket Price will be 25 pounds per event for members. These include UKIE, PACET, BIMA,IPA. It will be 50 pounds for non-members.
The events themselves start very soon, May 15th to be accurate. There will be over 800 different producers, agencies and developers. As with any good convention, they will be showcasing and sharing ideas.
What is Connected UK actually trying to do?
Connected UK is actually a partnership between several bodies in Television and advertising. What sets this conference apart is that it is not simply a developer conference. Rather it is a chance for people not in the gaming media to meet with game developers.
Basically, this is the convention you want to go to if you want to meet people outside of the core industry. This is actually less of a think-tank with developers. It is more of a connections marketplace. Your game could end up on television.
Notable guests at Connected UK
There are some interesting speakers:
- Head of Online Content at the BBC: Ralph Rivera.
- Executive Producers for Fuse: Rabin Mukerjea and Andrew Hill.
- Senior Demonstrator for Microsoft: Andrew Lee.

- UK and Ireland Director for Google/Youtube: Ben McOwen Wilson.

If any of these speakers interest you, be sure to check out their site. If you are a European developer this could garner you some very useful connections. Or teach you something you might need to learn about gaming.
