The final fact is that any number of signatures may not be enough. If NCsoft believes that City of Heroes will not work, it is up to them. Fans have also begun writing letters to NCsoft about City of Heroes. Hopefully this concerted effort will work.

Why is City of Heroes Shutting Down?

NCsoft is surely stretched right now. They are having to run multiple games including Guild Wars 2. It may just be a case of not having the manpower here. Guild Wars 2 is also their main moneymaker right now. They probably, like any good company, want to devote their time to it. It just makes sense from a business standpoint. Overall this game has become somewhat obsolete to many gamers. A great many of them have done all the various content it offers.

Help City of Heroes Yourself

If you greatly enjoyed the game, you shoujld pitch in. Write an e-mail, sign a City of Heroes petition. Do whatever you can to help. Overall this was a great game that deserved better. It was always the MMO on the side due to World of Warcraft. If you haven’t played it, you should check it out now. If the petitions do not work, it could be gone for good. At least until people start putting up emulated shards. We have seen people do this already with Ultima Online. So good games do not die, they just fade out of the spotlight.
