Captain Earth and Ryuugajou Nanana No Maizoukin First Impressions

Captain Earth

Captain Earth is about Daichi whose dad died due to an incident in space. Daichi believed his dad was a normal astronaut, but his dad was secretly helping protect the Earth. Daichi gets a gun that lets him pilot a mech like his father and takes out an evil mech.

The mechs combining sequence is really over the top in Captain Earth. Spaceship releasing a small mech to shoot into the pieces of the combining mech. In order to even get it to work all those space stations have to be in a perfect line. Also all the additional pieces to make it work must be expensive. It seems very overblown, but that seems to be the idea.

The villains of Captain Earth so far look like text book villains. That is annoyingly over the top, but I guess it goes with the show. This is the show that shots a mech into another mech after all. Also if they are going to make the villain look like that their personalities should be a bit more on the mark because in ep 2 the female villain looks upset after just a kiss. Why is a villainous girl looking like that so upset about a kiss? At least the behind the scenes villain does not look like Team Rocket.

Overall this show seems promising as far as mech shows go. It has not done anything spectacular in the first two episodes, but maybe now that the team is assembled it will get better.

Ryuugajou Nanana No Maizoukin

Ryuugajou Nanana No Maizoukin is about a boy that has to leave his house and comes to a school on a special island. He finds some housing he can afford, but immediately finds out that there is the ghost of a young girl already living there. She was killed in her apartment and is bound there. Since Jugo can not move anywhere else he has to adapt and tries to learn more about her. The ghost turns out to be one of the founders of the island and there are still people looking for her treasures scattered around the island.

The only cool thing about this first episode was watching a guy willingly have his shoulder dislocated to touch a boob. I do not think anyone would really do that. At least I would hope not.

Most of the first episode of Ryuugajou Nanana No Maizoukin was Jugo being the ghost’s slave. Why would he agree to fighting with a ghost? He already knew she could become incorporeal. There was no way he could win. So he was a dumb guy and now has to go on endless pudding runs with money he does not have. Not a great set-up. At least the adventure part should be more interesting.

Overall this appears to be a mystery and adventure show, but the story in Ryuugajou Nanana No Maizoukin just isn’t very interesting. Maybe if it was a new mystery or had some more compelling reason. The ghost does not even seem upset about her situation.
